I've been taking whey based protein shakes for many years but often find they give me bloating and wind. Could anyone suggest an alternative?

There are Pea, Hemp and Rice protein powders available out there and probably others.
A friend did reccomend liquidised (cooked) chicken in a milkshake but I'm not sure how serious he was.
Aside from the powders there are also cakes and bars with protein added.

The full sized servings may be too much for your body to process all at once, have you tried smaller servings?

Reckon it's the fact it's dairy-based. Sounds like what happens if I have too much milk these days.

Most whey shakes will have a fair amount of lactose in them, you could try whey isolate which has less lactose than whole whey.

Thanks for the replies chaps, I'll try whey isolate for starters and take it from there.

Try a different brand. When I was using Bodytronics it wreaked havoc on my digestive system, I had to switch shake especially as I share a bathroom with a housemate! Since then I've used whey protein from myprotein and also Dymatize with no ill effects

Either buy a proper isolate as has been mentioned already or buy whey which contains digestive enzymes - i.e. Dymatize, Reflex etc.
