Uterine Cancer

But what do 'we' know about it please?

Biopsy last week, MRI today to find out the extent of it, confirmation from the Surgeon on the plan next week.

I need to know what to expect she will go through (other than a full hysterectomy), and Google, although helpful, is not always the best research tool...

It looked like snow, she hasn't been told what type other than womb.

Snow? sort of like a thin plaque like layer across the womb surface? has she been told whether it is benign or malignant?

Well if it's benign a complete hysterectomy might just do it without the need for me to fetch my gun

guessing so, she's not telling me a lot ATM

Including whether she knows if it's malignant or not!

The MRI results will be discussed with the Consultant on Tuesday, i will know more then I hope

The cancer is in the Uterus & has started to spread to the muscles, the Surgeon hopes that taking the whole thing out, tubes, ovaries etc will stop it, but will need to assess lymph glands whilst in there & then Mum has to have radiotherapy.

The Surgeon is hoping to perform the hysterectomy via keyhole to minimise recovery time, in 4-6 weeks.

We have a shedload of documentation to read & absorb & a direct line to the Nurse for any queries

Father diagnosed with prostate and mum with breast cancer in the last year. The attention they have got has been great, seems the hospitals do swing into action when needed. Sadly Dad's had spread to bones so too late to cure but Mum is doing well, through her Chemo and onto Herceptin.

Sorry about your Dad, and your Mum Everything crossed for both him not suffering and your Mum's recovery

It's given me a new perspective. I was at A&E in Romford on Saturday after being poked in the eye in a nightclub (don't ask!) and was very patient at having to wait for hours as I knew more urgent people were going ahead of me.

Everyone does bh about the NHS but the reality is that if you have a serious medical problem, the NHS can usually sort it out. I've avoided death thanks to them as have my parents.

Thought I should update this

Had the removal results today

Started in the Cervix (now removed) not in the lymph glands (also removed) so she's all clear

She has to have 3 courses of Radiotherapy @ the QE just to make sure

She did go to the doctors early with symptoms so was caught early.
