Fungal nail infection !

Hi..
I've just finished a treatment with the Scholl stuff but it doesnt look to have worked to well.
I had 'Terbinafine' tablets from the Docs a few years ago which did seem to work, but it was a 3 month course and they made me feel like crap so i gave them up to soon and it came back again.
Really dont want to go back to the tablets..
Anyone used a diferent treatment that worked ??

Long term use of creams and tablets like Terbinafine and other such medication intended to eradicate fungal infections do carry significant risks which your GP should explain to you and you should be monitored regularly for any blood/other effects.
There are risks associated with these treatments particularly to the liver. Unfortunately some skin types are very susceptible to such diseases and Diabetes can worsen the condition. Your GP is your best bet but this can take years to eradicate and you need serious advice on how to combat this. Good luck. With consistent repeated applications and taking all the simple preventatives and palliatives widely advertised such as hygiene, foot care, etc it is possible.

I used one of the Excilor pens and found it to be totally useless, waste of 24 quid and the time taken each morning and evening to apply it.
I think it must have been Turbafine I took a few years ago which cleared it up well, with no side effects either, but I'd rather not go on another course of it.

Tea Tree oil can cause contact dermatitis apparently. Personally though I'd give it a go, small risk.
I'm a podiatrist so see LOADS of fungal toe nail, they are a swine to treat successfully, if you could invent a 100% effective cure you'd be a millionaire.
One option that I've used on a couple of people that worked 100% was to avulse (remove) the nail under local anesthetic and then using an topical application for 6-12 months while the nail grows back, or a combination or topical/systemic, if you can tolerate the medication. This was for treating something resembling this (spoilered in case you're having your dinner
