having moved towards low Heel-Toe Drop shoes for running, what would be a good shoe for circuit training/gym etc?

I do have a pair of Vans that are fairly flat, albeit weighty, which would probably do.

Vibram Five Fingers.

Pack up small in a gym bag too which helps.

Pends on how much you want to spend really.

I had this dilemma recently, had a pair of fila skele-toes (similar to VFF's but slightly thicker sole) that i broke in a washing machine, considered;
  • old school gym plimsolls
  • Converse
  • wrestling boots _£20 from ebay,
  • TKD Adidas Trainers £35 from ebay
Ended up getting some Inov-8's from Sportshoes.com with a 3mm sole and 0mm drop for £55. Theyve got or did have a sale on soe there where some other cheaper 'minimalist' trainers for sale, i just went for them as ive got another pair of inov-8s so knew the size to go for.

What swayed me into getting these is that i could, potentially, start to run abit more in them (though i use my others for running in) and i wouldnt be able to in the boots/TKD shoes.

Any minimalist running shoe is good - low/no heel drop and an incompressible sole - 5 fingers not the best really, no need for separate thingies for each toe

Although you say low/no heel drop and incompressible sole - exactly what VFF are.

The separate bits for the toes are irrelevant in these circumstances.

I've been using mine for years now with no problems, running, gym and the fact they pack up small is an added bonus when cycling to work every day and carrying a bag.

Did a 3 mile run on the beach in them last night too, mostly sand, but some stony areas, the sole is very robust/tough, although you do feel the stones.

Thats my point - there are better/cheaper minimalist shoes (including ones with vibram soles) but without the unnecessary fingery thingies

I use new balance minimus mr00, used for everything from running to weights, the only thing I don't use them for are squats.

I lack flexibility in my ankles to go arse to ground in flat shoes so need weight lifting shoes.
