Do I tell the boss I have high blood pressure?
Discussion
Bit of background.
A week after I started my new job I got hurt playing football.
Because of a holiday the co. didn't register me in the private healthcare so when I wanted to see a specialist it was classed as a pre-existing condition.
NHS consultant appointment scheduled for end of Dec. canceled to end of Jan.
MRI in Feb showed I needed a cruciate ligament rebuild.
Appointment for surgery 15th May and work informed that I'd need some time off.
Cut to this Monday I had a pre surgery check up which showed I had high blood pressure. Sent for ECG and told to see my GP. In the meantime a call from the hospital confirms surgery cancelled by anaesthetist. I was originally told the pre surgery check was so that there was time to correct any issues (not great for the blood pressure!)
So I have now seen my GP and this morning - after a week of worry and hyperchondria my blood pressure is 165/113 when it should be below 150/90.
Options are check again in a week or so; start meds or wear a recorder to check away from Dr's surgery.
Went for the latter.
So do I tell work that surgery is cancelled? And why?
Assume even if things go ok I won't be able to get the original appointment back.
Basically frustrated, confused, worried and annoyed.
Frustrated because the the purpose of the initial appointment was so there'd be time to sort things like this.
Annoyed because this could all have been sorted months ago if it wasn't for the cock up at work and I'd be back playing football over the summer. And because even with waiting for the NHS it will be Christmas before I play again at the earliest if the May surgery had gone ahead. Now I don't know when I'll play again!
