I knocked some of it down last weekend and went gym next day and got an ache in my arm. Ignored it.

Knocked rest of it down today and I have an almost unbearable pain radiating down my arm. I can only liken It to growing pains. I can't pinpoint the pain as it radiates. Is it a tendon stretched? Arms shaking.

Thanks

Tendons don't stretch, they rupture.

Could be aggravated nerve. If the pain shoots through much more than one muscle it's unlikely to be related to the muscle - spindle, golgi, fascia, muscle or tendon damage.

Sorry for stating the obvious but 'almost unbearable' pain deserves the attention of a doctor, no matter what you think you know caused it. GP or walk-in centre time.

I took some Ibuprofen and the pain eased after about 30-40 minutes. It’s been fine since. No arm or back day at the gym this week but I still have a small amount of wall to knock down and a few ton of rubble to move which I’ll do later in the week.

Touch wood, I don’t think it’s serious… I think it is/was just some sort of repetitive strain injury? Whether it was over stretching my arm or the jarring effect of the hammer bouncing off the wall, I don’t know.

Tendonitis?

I got a case of this after an intense 4 hour drumming session believe it or not. Thought it was usual DOMS but is still lingering after 4 weeks - much, much better though and the stuff the doc gave me, Feldene, has helped immensely.

well they do stretch, when you do stretching exercises, like trying to get your palms flat on the floor with straight legs.

HTH! wink

In principle it would kinda be a bit pointless if tendons stretched, because a muscle wouldn't be able to pull on the bone. (Well actually they do stretch a tiny tiny bit, but it's more an emergency flex to avoid the moment of tearing under very high pressure)

btw, I can't understand what stretching exercise you're trying to explain there. It sounds just like sitting down? :s

lol, stand up, legs straight, then try an put your palms flat on the floor, while standing up...

if you cannot do it first time, push a bit more every time you do it, taking a couple of weeks an you should be able to do it easy.
