best lightweight shoes for bad back

I have a dodgy back so would like some cushioning but I hate big shoes/trainers. i live in converse which arent the best for walking long distances although i have fancy insoles in them.

any recommendations for a lightweight shoe that provides lots of support / cushioning? casual ones i mean not smart shoes - salamon type things something technically good
