Anyone tried this? seems to have good write ups on their web page, but could just be marketing hype...

If not this one. Has anyone used any other on the market? Any recommendations would be appreciated

cheers

I have one of the MyProtein thermo products - I think it's thermopure... however, how effective this is (as well as the others) is up for debate. It may help, but seriously, for the cost, I doubt it is worth it. I'd only have these so called 'fat burners' if I was given them for free. I've also used Lipo6.

The only real effective weight-loss pill I've tried (that WAS legal) is ephedrine (ECA stack). Anything else is tame and pointless in comparison IMO. They all aim to work in the same way which is to increase your heart rate and blood pressure (usually by getting adrenaline released) which will increase your resting energy use & suppress your appetite. The side effects can be pretty awful but bigger side effects = more effective product unfortunately.

Here's the ingredient list of the product you mentioned: http://www.theproteinworks.com/thermopro-889.html as you can see, nothing breakthrough here... the standard stuff like chili pepper extract, coffee, green tea etc.

I'm not sure why you want fat burners, but you'd be better off adjusting your diet, become more strict, be able to stave off hunger/temptation pangs and introduce some higher intensity training.

If you are adament on supplements, then a decent pre-workout stimulant will be more effective than these off-the-shelf fat burners.

Sorry if this is basic stuff and you know all this, but it's sometimes nice for it to be reinforced.

So in short, if you want a serious fat burner, look into ephedrine but it is not legal I don't think! At least selling it isn't and ephedrine if abused will mess you up... so be warned on the side effects. Obviously a reason why it's prohibited!

Secondly, if you want a good pre-workout, again it's banned, but look for anything with DMAA in it (1,3-dimethylamylamine) as it's potent as hell and gives you great workout energy... again be careful if you do use it. Another decent PWO is DS Craze among others like White Flood.

Ephedrine & DMAA are akin to doing lines of gear or speed. Serious. Ephedrine is something like 1 molecule removed from being an amphetamine.

DMAA: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Methylhexanamine
Ephedrine: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ephedrine

This is just my opinion and I obviously don't condone buying anything illegal. smile

cheers for the response guys.

i'll explain a bit more. I'm 48 and retired last year. I belonged to a gym, but TBH had no focus. Just used running machine etc. never lost weight. And probably had a st diet. Good quality food but far to many carbs and booze...

Started circuits on a Monday night about 14 weeks ago. Realised how unfit I was and decided to do something about it. Then about just over 2 months ago saw the '12 week body plan' book by Mens fitness. Had a browse and bought it.

Cut the carbs and followed the plan, kept off the booze as much as poss though have been to 3 weddings and a two week hol in between so has been hard.
Definitely changed body shape a bit but weight has gone up a fraction. Difficult to see for yourself but has been commented on by others at the circuit class.

Now as I look through the book cant see myself at the same stage as the cover model.

Dont get me wrong I'm 18 or so years older and was probably quite a bit fatter. Also although kept a food diary didn't really get a grip on the protein intake.
Have downloaded Myfitnesspal so can now really see that i was probably 80g or so under eating on protein.

I am now addressing this, about 8 -9 days into it. and eating at least 200g of protein a day. I feel a bit more muscular. but thought that to really lose the extra couple of inches these product might be needed.

Not only that, the maxi muscle challenge had the winner taking thermobol and CLA. He seemed the guy to change his body shape the most from the pics.
In honesty I was probably more like him from the start, rather than the cover guy from the MH challenge.

This week I have decided to really up my HIIT was doing it for last 2 weeks along with circuits but only one extra day.
This week I will probably be doing 4 -5 days of HIIT. So hopefully the extra fat will start to move too.

I'm looking at adding HIIT to every weight session so from now on will do at least 3 days of this, plus circuits and maybe a bit more if bored etc...

Supplement wise i'm taking Whey Protein, BCAA, Beta Alanine (weight days only) also been using Omega fish oils. ZMA at bedtimes.

Also bought a pre work out drink called 'Raze" from protein works, TBH not entirely sure if thats a waste of money. Definately get the tingle from Beta Alanine though.

Maybe I'm being a bit impatient.

But as we all know when you work hard you just want to see the results as fast as possible.

Am I being too impatient? Was starting to think that perhaps the 2 months or so that I did before was just shedding all the fat I denied having. And until I started getting a grip of the Protein was just pissing around at the weight stuff.

Over to you guys?

Oh and I definitely dont want to use anything illegal. You only have to look at the damage done to other musclemen, sprinters from steroids etc.

I appreciate you do not want to take anything illegal, however you should take a look at Clenbuterol and Cytomel (T3) I don't believe either are actually illegal, they are only illegal to sell, you can therefore mail order from abroad, they work and they are really quite strong but the side effects can be quite harsh with the clen, shakes are common.

However after trying the above, ECA stacks and other supps, it is quite clear that anything fully legal and sold in shops is quite frankly ste, I ordered some Thermobol from Maximuscle (£2 a pack as was £10 off, over now, don't think they are even shipping) and I read some reviews, it was basically a massive caffeine trip and nothing else, supposedly a lean toning supplement, my arse.

Nothing of real value in the above, but its my thoughts on the matter and maybe something for you to look into, if you do decide to go ahead with the Clen or T3 or anything similar, I can recommend a website that I have ordered from in the past without hassle.

If you think the ECA stack is st, I doubt you've actually tried the real deal because it is potent and tried and tested.

As for clen, from what I've read I'd steer well clear. It's been known to kill horses... but I don't know enough about it. There will be a ton of info on wikipedia and bodybuilding.com I'm sure.

Most people lie to themselves and others about their diets. If you want to maintain energy for training to keep your strength and improve where possible and drop fat, unless you are an extreme ectomorph, you have to eat very clean.

And you're right, it isn't overnight. You do need to be patient.

Weightloss and improving your fitness is a lifestyle change. The guys and girls that you see in these mags spend hrs training and avoiding foods that most folk eat. If you want to lose the weight and get back into shape you need to clean your diet up and give yourself plenty of time to do it, could take 12 months or more. Clen, ephedrine and anavar can get the weight off, clen is Hollywoods choice over cocaine. The side effects are shakes, vomiting, dizziness etc, not what your body needs. Take your time, enjoy the training and keep your diet clean.

Cheers for the advice guys. From what you say i'm definitely being impatient. As for Clen and all the rest will be giving them a wide berth... At my age I'm wanting to extend my time on this planet not decrease it...

TBH I am probably already seeing some of the benefits as am definitely fitter in the circuits and the mrs says I feel more muscular.

In summary I think I'll give the Thermo's and CLA a miss stick with coffee pre work out with a few BCAA and beta analine.
Diet is coming along especially nowi'm tracking it properly. Oh and give it some more time.

Thanks again

Hard work! Never been unemployed. Been working since I was 16. Might sound good to be finished at 48 but I made a few sacrifices along the way. I missed out a bit with my eldest boys as was always working. Things you take for granted like school plays, taking them to football on Saturdays blah blah blah.

But have a 2.5 yr old girl now so more Than making up for it. Do the nursery run and everything now...

Mind you dreading the time the other kids quiz her as to why her grandad always brings her to school
