What's everyone's opinions on partial reps, specifically the type done in the following video whereby the muscle is kept under constant tension during the entire set? I tried skull crushers with a similar style a couple of months back and you definitely have to lower the weight from what you'd do normally, might give them another go from next week.
The video is getting a few comments from the usual crowd of people "he's on steroids so he'd grow no matter what he does" but being that Kali Muscle is a guy that's been bodybuilding for years, irrespective of his steroid use or not, he'd know the best way to gain bigger muscles faster purely because its his livelihood.

I think it has its place. I know for example partial reps on leg press have helped developed strength for sled pull ss an example. Because you don't bend your legs much for sled pull the power is at a certain point which partial reps can develop.
I wouldn't do it unless I had reason though

Makes sense to me.
Certainly, I was mucking about with partial hack squats with a relatively light weight and it really hurts!
But isn't this the principle of gymnastics? They don't specifically do full range of motion with a view to building muscle.
Not sure about gymnastic training, watching the video, I did believe that Kali Muscle was saying partials were better for hypertrophy which would be the last thing gymnasts need. I'd have also sort a gymnast needs to have as much strength through a full a range of movement as is possible?Certainly, I was mucking about with partial hack squats with a relatively light weight and it really hurts!
