there's something wrong with my liver?
Discussion
Just been docs for my sinuses and she said the blood tests I did before showed high liver function? She asked if I drink a lot which o don't. She said I could have had a virus at the time but was gonna send me for more tests (we got on to something else and forgot about the repeated blood test d'oh!).
Now I've read creatine can cause this? Any proof of this? I take a level teaspoon of mono mainly on training days (forget on my off days). Is it time I cycle off it?
Any idea what could happen? She didn't tell me much.

you should be cycling creatine usage, on for a month off for a month i think (might be a diff 'off' time, but i just do it like that and have had no problems so far)
I'm sure the general consensus now is that you don't need to cycle off creatine. However, as the docs said I have elevated liver activity I think it's time to come off it for 2-3 weeks.
The normal liver function tests are AST/ALT. When they are talking about viruses they are probably thinking of Hepatitis which will show elevated levels, but that's obviously/hopefully unlikely.
As for eating fatty foods the morning before.....I think that's b
ks. A fatty liver can cause elevated AST/ALT levels but they take months to change...not hours.
I had elevated AST/ALT levels after having Pneumonia a couple of years ago.....to cut a very long story short it was suspected at one stage I has auto-immune liver disease following this so saw a liver specialist and had a liver biopsy. I know a fair amount about AST/ALT levels after that little lot
What I would say is that your average GP will really just be speculating about what is the matter, if you are concerned go and see a specialist. If you live in London and have private healthcare Professor David Silk is your man.
