Loss of appetite ???
Discussion
Hi guys,
I've recently within the last week had a massive loss in appetite where I usually ate around 2000-2500 calories a day, I am now down to easily less than 750. I have had this feeling in my stomach kind of like butterflies but with hunger as well. It's weird I can make a slice of toast but I feel full after a couple of bites which is really odd. I haven't really got any stresses in life that could cause this so I'm staring to wonder if this a sign of something serious.

On a serious note, it could be cancer but I wouldn't jump to that conclusion immediately. Bear in mind that it's warmer these days and if you're used to eating hot, bulky food, this may be a reason why you're losing your appetite.
Also, you say you count calories - are you getting frustrated that you're not losing weight quickly enough?

I'm not a woman mate. Yeah I am trying to loose a bit but I have just made it a habit to count calories as it kind of helps keep track on what I,m eating etc. I've just had a family member recently pass away from pancreatic cancer so that's the big thing on my mind to be honest. But the thing is it has been about four weeks since the funeral so I would have though it would have occurred sooner. I've never had it before so I'm kind of freaked out by it.
I always have this mechanism in me where I just numb at a traumatic event. I've seen some pretty strong stuff but have just stood or sat there blank where others would be crying there eyes out. It happens for both happy and sad occasions. I kind of feel lucky as it means I can support people without getting emotional etc. Because it was a 12 month deterioration for him and not a sudden event I think I came to terms with it over a longer amount of time than if it was sudden.

It is possible that you're not entirely in touch with your feelings and your lack of appetite is just a symptom of the problem. I'd speak to a doctor about it, though, as you never know - it could be something serious medically.Speedy1995 said:

Book an appointment - you can always cancel it if things improve.

Perhaps you're suffering from health anxiety (more specifically cancer anxiety), which would be understandable in the circumstances as anxiety will very quickly suppress appetite (realted to the 'flight-or-fight response I believe).
kin worry me now ETA It might be a sign of something more serious, but it could be any number of things, and so it's a big leap to go from 'loss of appetitite' to 'life threatening condition', especially given the circumstances of the very recent loss of a family member (sorry for your loss BTW) which will make you far more 'on edge' about such things.
