Out of interest, if you're hit by lethargy, do you want visitors or is it better to be left alone to rest? Or does it vary from person to person? What about in this heat?

Ta!

I think it depends on the person, my Dad had 3/4 sessions last year before surgery and he got used to the cycle between sessions. I think he would probably say that he felt worse for say a week after each session and then started to feel better. He did not want visitors for the first week or so but then ok after that.
I think after the first session you will not really know how to feel but depending on how many sessions you have, you will get to know how you feel.

Ah, right. It's my dad - couldn't decide whether to stay or go yesterday!

I think if he is in hospital its worth staying with him if he is just affected by general lethargy and tiredness

If you don't have visitors its pretty boring / lonely otherwise - I was never bothered that the conversation was not sparkling with wit, just having someone around was nice, particularly if you need something doing, fetching, buying from the shop etc

Ah right, my dad's at home with my mum. I also wonder about the conversation - not sure what to say because I want to bring a bit of cheer but he's not focusing enough to be a smart arse.

Well from my own experience he will want you there for sure but he might not show it.
I was very grateful to anyone visiting me but my concentration levels were poor, as was my ability to concentrate on conversations, so you feel detached, zombie like or not quite with it.
So go as often as you can, & when he has recovered he will tell you himself how much it was appreciated.

I got the feeling that was the case. The closest I've come to it is when I'd just come out of an operation and someone was trying to chat to me after I'd come round from general anaesthetic.

Yeah, I get the feeling he is bored but too tired to do anything. He finds it difficult to focus on listening to the radio or watching TV sometimes.
