So...

I my sis goes to a gym and she says a few people there work out while wearing a bin bag! something to do with sweating more and losing more weight....

In truth in the theory? Will running wearing a bin bag really help?!

Well AFAIK you sweat more so you lose water weight. Which tbh is dangerous if you don't replace it. So you will lose like a lb after workout but then add it back on through replenishing yourself laugh

surely if it worked you would be better of doing it in a wet suit or a rubber suit

I'm pretty sure this is a suit aimed at the gym user, it even has the weight chains.

It'll help her identify the cretins, for sure. Other than that, no.

No, it will not help you loose fat, but if you need to loose weight quick before a weigh in, then do it, just dont drink anything before the weigh in.

you will just sweat and put the water weight lost straight back on when you drink a glass or 2 of water.

my hugely uninformed sister thought she would loose fat in a sauna quicker than a gym running or spin class.

until i showed her exactally what happens when you loose a lot of sweat then drink a bit of water, as i think one kilo of water is one litre of water.

weight before sauna, sweat loads, weight, then drink and weigh, then wait a bit and weigh again.

you will end up the same weight as before the sauna if you drink the same amount of water than you sweat out.

the bin bag will do the exact same as loosing sweat does not mean loosing fat.

you will loose weight, just water by sweating, and then when you drink a few glasses of water, you will put the weight straight back on again.

good for a weigh in in boxing or the like, but no good for normal people, unless you like sweating.

I'm sure Neville Southhall warmed up/trained and played all his games with a bin bag on under his football shirt. I'm certain he was the first to admit he was a bit of a lard ass and it kept his weight in check.

For those who don't know he was a cracking goalkeeper who i think was an ex binman!! Got into the pro game late but was on his day unbeatable.

We used to do this for weighing in when I was thai boxing, it's unpleasant but works.

I'm not sure it's as black and white as water sweated out is all replaced by water taken back in. It does raise your core temp a touch which will increase your metabolic rate and in theory use more calories.

Just a guess though.

You can buy sweat suits for boxing, they are minging, elasticated cuffs and waist bands means you can see just how much sweat you can manage to pool as you skip/jog it off.

I was given the same advice by my Army recruiter. He told me that I should wear a bin bag under my hoodie when going for a run as it would cause me to exert more energy and breath harder due to the extra heat. Then when I did my two day selection process without the bag, I'd find it a lot easier.

Semi-reasonable logic, probably crap...

But it may get you into that dress or into those jeans for a one off event.

That's how alcopops were invented - they threw the halftime oranges into his discarded binbag and then one day some tramp poured the sweat from his binbag into an old styrofoam coffee cup and slurped it down.

Realised he was on to something special (even better than meths) started to collect them every week, pouring the stew into buckets and touting it with the ticket floggers. Roaring trade...

Multi-millionaire now, from what I heard.

Just think it through. What's it doing? What's the purpose of the bag? As someone else said, other than losing weight (not fat) through dehydration, at a stretch it will raise your metabolism slightly. But so do most fat burners. Even if they raise everything by 10% and you use 10% more calories (which will be optimistic), if you're in a 200 calorie daily deficit, all the binbag does is increase that to 220 calories. Hardly worth all the discomfort - just run for another few minutes to achieve the same effect.
