Training foods and recipes
Discussion
I thought it might be a nice idea to share some food ideas for certain types of training. Please mention the type of training you'd recommend it for, and if you know a breakdown of the nutritional info why not add it in too. (I don't)! I'm trying to stay lean and need ideas!!
This is a spinach and beef mince cannelloni. Very easy and very tasty.
Definatily a bulking meal!!
Ingediants
Cannelloni (enough to fill a large lasange dish)
12-15 blocks of frozen spinach
500g lean mince meat
Two tins of chopped tomotoes
30g butter
One large onion
Two cloves of garlic
Salt
Pepper
Basil
Cheese sauce - you can use your own recipe for this but I ude
0.75 ounce of flour
0.75 ounce of butter
2/3 pint of milk
6 ounces of cheese (very cheesy)
Melt the butter in a large frying pan (I use a wok)
Chop the Onions and crush the garlic - Soften and brown the garlic and onions
Brown the mince
Add the Tomotoes, spinach, herbs and seasoning
Simmer and boil down for 20ish minutes
While it's doing this make your cheese sauce
Your supposed to wait for the mince to cool bu I never do
Spoon the mince mix into the cannelloni and place in the dish
Add any extra mince around/on top of the pasta
Poor your cheese sauce on top (make sure it's not too runny)
Grate a bit of extra cheese on top
Bake in a preheated over for 40 minutes at 190C

Chili con carne... buy the packs of lean beef mince in Sainsburys - it's like 2kgs for £10. I just freeze it.
Well easy to cook - put onions, peppers & garlic in a pan with oil/fry light until onions are brown, in goes the meat (500g), chili/chili powder, paprika, salt & pepper.
Once meat is mostly brown, get some beef stock and mix with boiled water (about 250ml) and pour it in - let it all simmer for a good 15-20 minutes.
Next chuck in tomatoes/tomato puree and other bits you like... I tend to add some 'liquid smoke' recently & some garlic chili sauce, maybe some marmite/Bovril. Let it all cook for another 10-15 minutes.
Finally, chuck in kidney beans or baked beans and let it cook for another 10-15 minutes.
Try a bit, season to taste and then serve either on its own or with rice/sweet potatoes.
Pretty high in protein.
I make loads, can make Burritos etc with the left overs.
