I find these fascinating, I can look at them for hours and the technology of MRI is phenomenal.

What does it show, results wise?

I'm unsure on MRI. My ankle MRI was far from exciting but when they opened it up and had a look with a camera there was all sorts wrong

Here's one of mine from a few years back. Been in the scanner a few times being checked for lesions on the brain & spine.

I don't know about the relative diagnostic merits of various imaging techniques on ankles, but it's pretty cool to be able to look at slices through your own head.

It looks pretty normal to me.


I cant show you my MRIs, the 20 or so a day that I do would take up too much bandwidth wink

Ive not got a copy of mine, will have to get a pic next time im at the oncologists....

agree with the poster above, very cool seeing all the slices of your own head, apart from the tumoury bit i had. Also the missus didnt like seeing the eyeballs!

I have a pretty cool 3D image of my skull when it got fractured. I also have MRI's of my brain.

24/03/2012 MRI Knee Rt
There is a extensive bone marrow oedema in a pivot shift pattern. There is bone
marrow oedema within the left distal lateral femur lateral tibia and fibula head and
inferior patellar. There is a moderate knee effusion but no synovitis. There is a
tear of the medial patellofemoral ligament at the femoral attachment. The patellar
attachment is intact.

Acute tear of the anterior cruciate ligament. The posteriro cruciate ligament is
intact. There is a grade 2 sprain of the MCL. Lateral collateral ligament biceps
femoris, ITB and conjoint tendon are intact. Menisci are normal. The medial and
lateral compartment cartilage is normal. Retropatellar chondral surface is normal.
Quadriceps expansion, patellar tendon and Hoffa's fat pad appears normal.
Posterolateral corner structures appear normal.

Conclusion
Anterior cruciate ligament rupture. MCL sprain. Medial patellofemoral ligament tear.
Possibility of patellar dislocation as was as pivot shift mechanism.
