Strange knee injury symptoms
Discussion
Hi,
Been to the doctor as my knee is playing up all of a sudden. I noticed it start to 'click' if I extended it. Very rarely a pain. More like a little twinge, which just came and went five minutes ago (hence I decided to ask on here). I can walk on it, it just gets a little stiff, but yesterday I had to wobble on it for half an hour and then back to normal. It kind of felt difficult to straighten it out to walk properly.
Doctors has just recommended I stay off of it as much as possible, keep it elevated and straight and use ice. However he was pretty dismissive as I wasn't in agony and I can appreciate that fact and he. called it a light sprain.
But anyone on here got any ideas if it could be something more serious, or any advice? Normally any injuries I've had are quite painful and it's obvious. I do run, cycle and use the cross trainer at the gym and am still over weight by about a a stone. So it probably relates to that.

Clicks aren't generally much to worry about. My knees often make a lot of fuss, so long as there is no pain assosiated with it.
The stiffness may or may not be an issue. As there was no point of injury, it could be due to overuse but it seems weird that it came on a few days after anything strenuous. Have you increased load/volume/intenity/druation lately? Overuse injuries can be a multitude of things, but will often subside with rest.
As there is no pain I wouldn't worry yet. I had a weird knee issue with quite a lot of pain when the knee was stationary, mainly at night. Lasted a few months, then went away. About 12 months later it came back so I went to my GP, went as far as having specialists look and having MRI scans to find nothing wrong. No pain now. Knees can buggers!

It's still here. I have another appointment next week and will push for an MRI scan/hospital visit maybe. As it has been two weeks now I have been resting it and it's no different.
Felt very uncomfortable when I tried to lay down and leave my leg straight last night. So if I prop my leg up to elevate the knee I have to move it and bend it slightly as it feels so tense. But no pain. Just that I'm aware that something is there.
Hopefully just needs more time.

I had the same it came randomly and went so no help on that.Felt very uncomfortable when I tried to lay down and leave my leg straight last night. What I do suggest is try wearing a knee sleeve/knee brace/knee support etc. I've got lifting ones - knee sleeve and they do my knees wonders!

Injuries can take a minimum of 6 weeks total rest before any improvement can be detected, so my physio keeps telling me. Good luck!
