Retinal migraines

Had one yesterday & another today! Have had them on & off for years. For me they always start at the bottom left of my left eye & work their way to the right over about 20 mins or so leaving me feeling exhausted.
I only ever get them when l am over tired - there doesn't seem to be another trigger. The first time l had one l was convinced l was going blind!

Do you always get them in the same eye?
My 'normal' migraines start like yours, but if I close one eye or the other, the blind spot and then the zigzags are still in the same area even with my eyes shut, then the zigzags slowly move upwards.
But this new sort seems to stay near my lower lid, as a sort of shaking, flickering thing. It disappears when I shut my eyes, and stays in the one eye. It's weird. Almost like a starter motor going in a fluorescent tube type of flickering. Had another one last night, that's three in a row and very draining.

Oiland water, what is the particular problem you are having with your eye? If it is 'different' to your normal migraines then I would be slightly hesitant to class it as a migraine. If you have new onset floaters inside the eye (black blobs floating around) that occur through the day and if you have noticed flashing lights inside the eye that are more noticeable during dim light conditions then other problems such as PVD/posterior vitreous detachment and other associated problems should perhaps be excluded by an Ophthalmologist/eye doctor. .

Hi, defiantly different from my usual migrains. No black blob floaters though, just this flickering, strobing sort of thing in my left eye. It has occurred every night now since last Tuesday, around the same time, about 10'ish. The headaches I just wonder if I'm getting these due to the stress of this happening. CragGriff500 said:

Had my eye examined today, but blurry at the moment, and you are spot on with your diagnosis, a PVD thing, gel at the back of the eye tugging on the Retina. I've been told what symptoms to go to A&E with incase of a tear in the Retina, which can happen in 5% of the population apparently. Thank you.
