Wife bought me a fitbit gadget, I'm wearing it and it seems fairly accurate.
did 18000 steps today, 10 miles, 3600 cal.
But I sort of knew what i was doing on a daily basis anyway, as I run a certain distance most days and work hard, i really can't fathom what real use / motivation this info is.
Anyone else got a gadget like this and if so, how do you make it helpful

I have a Fitbit One and completely agree with you. I think it's probably more aimed at people who do need that motivation to see it clock up 10000 steps. It can also integrate with My Fitness Pal to give a better idea of total calories in/out.
But if you're already on a good diet and do regular exercise, as you say, not so useful.
