HI all, and please forgive the ramble in advance smile.....

I have been having some issues on and off over the last 12 months with a bulging disc in my neck (C5/6) that causes a lot of pain in my upper right arm, shoulder, inside forearm and tingling in my thumb. The last time it flared up (jan this year) I had an MRI and my neuro guy felt that rest and recouperation would do the trick - which it did : he also perscribed me vast quantities of tramadol and pergabalin, both of which I stopped taking fairly rapidly as I hated how they made me feel.
This particular flare up coincided with me hitting the gym for the first time in years, and seems to be on a par or slightly worse than the episode in Jan. I just had an MRI this morning and will be discussing the results with my guy on tuesday.

I just wanted to ask your opinions on what I can do from here?....I really want to try and avoid surgery if I can, as I have just started at a new company and dont really want to take 3 or 4 weeks off at this delicate stage. I have been looking at traction and wondered if its a good/bad idea?
Also what kind of physical therepy would provide the best results in the shortest period of time?
And one last thing, what can I take for the pain thats not going to turn me into a simpering zombie? :-) ps co-codamol, asperin, ibuprofen .....dont seem to aleviate my pain in the slightest.....

I look forward to any and all advice you guys could answer

regards

snaz

Not really much help seems the exercise is inflaming the nerves, Don't rule out Medical treatments you could get a nerve root block done privately or wait on the NHS (Pain Management Clinics) be in and out in 4 hours, with nigh on instant results.

I have these injections on lower spine every 6-12 months and work excellent for me, quicker appointments if wanted by me, they bathe the nerves in slow release Steroids which help the nerves to settle down and maybe all you need is one shot and your fixed.

I see from your Profile your in London Try getting a referral to the Pain Management Clinic at Queens Sq London they are quick once your on their system http://www.uclh.nhs.uk/OurServices/ServiceA-Z/Neur...
