ADHD & Adderall
Discussion
ADHD is a made up problem, created by big Pharma to sell drugs, via GPs, to disfunctional families who's kids are 'out of control'.
ADHD - attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.
The key word is 'disorder'
Dis-order.
Edited to add,
Adderall is an amphetamine based drug, a form of 'speed', if you know your rec. drugs.
Are we sure here that said person hase been on this medication for 20 years??

ADHD is a real condition, and plenty of medical evidence backs it up. It has nothing to do with being 'out of control' or 'disfunctional'. Infact the two people I know of with ADHD both come from very good families and have no behavioral problems, other than when teachers treat fidgeting and short attention span as 'behavioral'.
What being a disorder has to do with anything I don't know, or do you think the same about bipolar disorder, eating disorders, Immunoproliferative disorders etc?

In reply to the OP, not much I'm afraid. The biggest thing the two people I know have found that helps is food. Having a consistent healthy diet helps with concentration and energy levels. They find processed foods a problem and having consistent energy without highs and crashes helps, but speak to a nutritionist before doing anything.

Sorry but it's as believable as this IMO which is on that site too: http://www.nhs.uk/conditions/chronic-fatigue-syndr...
So you think CFS isn't real? Never met anyone with it then have you. It causes constant pain, to the point of being unable to move sometimes, fatigue, and not just "I feel tired" fatigue, but like feeling you have run a marathon all the time.
My wife has/had it (She has not had a severe attack for 3 years, so fingers crossed). Some days she could not get up at all. It is like having severe flu for weeks on end.
Unless you think my wife is lazy and was lieing to me when she couldn't get out of bed for weeks and couldn't work for months.
Who are you to say a recognized condition is not real? You think your better than the NHS? You think people lie about being that ill? For what gain? We never claimed a penny in benefits if that is what you are thinking. We struggled and used up all of our savings whilst my wife recovered, and live knowing that it could happen again any day.

What theme would that be exactly? Because I know people who have two health conditions that people like you choose to make ignorant comments about?
Yes, lets also say Cancer doesn't exist. How about broken arms whilst we are at it. Oh, and those glasses people wear. All a scam I tell you!

ADHD and CFS are real but are IMO over-diagnosed sometimes ...
ADHD is over diagnosed because of unrealistic expectations in education over sitting still and behaving - of course it doesn;t occur in the past when teachers were sanctioned to use physical assault with little or no justification ( and then we wonder why some groups of people consider the solution to problems to be the use of violence - thanks to the institutuiojnally approved use of physical violence against children and young people in both the home and school )
there is also an issue with both conditions of people neglecvting the large somatic and psychosocial aspects to the conditions instead looking towards a 'magic bullet' to 'cure' it
ADHD has it's alleged 'magic bullet' in the 'phet based drugs ,CFS doesn;t have a magic bullet

If the person has been taking for 20 years I would guess he/she is now an adult? You would need to see a specialist regularly to review the medication. I am not sure if Adderall is still prescribed for adults but I think Concerta XL is a popular choice. It's longer acting and time release and you can also stop taking during holidays/weekends when you do not need it.
Again, for best advice book an appointment to see your mental health team.

Those things can be diagnosed by physical and radiographical examinations. CFS cannot. Adhd, I won't mention as you'll only get more irritated.
Anyway sorry to the OP for derailing the thread, carry on.
So you think anything without physical symptoms is made up? All those depressed people must just be a bit sad, need to buck their ideas up and have a stiff upper lip eh?Anyway sorry to the OP for derailing the thread, carry on.
Thanks for the genuine replies, slightly annoyed that serious threads get hijacked by people with no interest in helping. Oh well.
In response - she's now 31 and perhaps a slight 'victim' of the American culture to prescribe such things, but she is genuinely very highly strung without it. I was just seeing if there was anything else she could take that wasn't perhaps such a 'harsh' medication as we're about to get married, have kids etc.
