So... what are the symptoms of Diabetes?
Discussion
So.... Diabetes runs in my family. On both sides, and my Dad was diagnosed a few years ago.
I have recently noticed that some of the symptoms that my Dad has, seems to have manifested in me.
I try not to Google health issues anymore as "breathing fine= death" if you dig deep enough. So perhaps I could give you my symptoms, and you lot can scare me instead?
- Thirst. I drink A LOT of water. Around 4.5- 6 liters a day.
- Urinating. I piss like a race horse. ^^^^ obviously.
- Tiredness. Not so bad, but I have noticed I am going to be earlier and earlier. We do have a 5 month old though, so we are not getting a full nights' sleep, which could be the reason why. During the day, I feel "ok", but I have caught myself remarking that I could "do with two hours sleep"
- Dry skin. My Dad has this, terribly so around his elbows, and now I have developed the same. Its kind of Ashen grey looking. I also have very dry hands, and a few dry patches around my face. My Dad was told this is because "something" is not working properly due to the diabetes.
- Craving of sweet things. This is new. I never used to eat chocolate or drink coke. Recently though, I have.
I have not noticed any weight loss, infact the opposite!
So, Dr. PH, what do you think?

Yeah, I remember a diet that included a lot of essential chocolates and coke. It was called the My Stupid Fat Diet. Now I think about it, I'm pretty sure eating those two would explain you putting weight on.
New babies are great! For keeping you constantly knackered.
And drinking more fluid than you need (by about five litres a day!) is going to keep you peeing.
So, you've got ugly elbows and no other unexplained symptoms.
Go see a GP you plonker, but it could quite easily be nothing.
And put the coke down. It is good for de-greasing driveways and cleaning toilet bowls and nothing else.
