Anyone take it? What side effects?

Also anyone take it AND betablockers?

Wouldn't normally combine a calcium channel blocker and a beta blocker. Risk of complete heart block, especially with a non-dihydropyridine. Depends on the BB though. Cardiologists sometimes do funny things mere mortals don't understand!

Suspect you might combine a CCB with a BB for tachydysrhythmias.

If it makes a difference the drugs are for migraine (bb) and the verapamil for cluster headaches.

Neurologist prescribed it but I'm a little worried and the gp doesn't seem to know any more either. I think I'm probably happy to stop the bb's while I head towards my "cycle" of clusters but didn't know what side effects to expect.

Also need t book in for an ECG first apparently.

Sounds sensible to have an ECG first. Some beta blockers are more cardio specific than others. Propranolol is sometimes used for migraines and is much safer to combine with a CCB than other beta blockers. Cautious introduction post ECG (to check no underlying abnormalities not already apparent) should be ok. Check again with your GP if worried!
