Teeth cleaning - Bicarbonate of Soda + Citrus Juice
Discussion
Teeth! I'd like to smarten them up and make them look a tad more white, aka less yellowish. Yes i do get the dental hygienist to give them a clean, once a decade.
Found myself on YouTube earlier (as you do)! One individual cleaned their teeth using this method, once a week and they were adamant that was all they did apart from regular brushing.
They created a paste from a teaspoon or so of bicarbonate of Soda powder, and either lime juice, or lemon juice, and used that with a regular toothbrush. Their teeth looked almost perfect, just clean, and not overly white.
Anyone tried this and did it work?
Rachie, and any dentists care to comment on this method?

Sorry cant advise on dentistry, but I'm sure as a kid I used to make 'bombs' out of this to blow toys up. Put loads in a sealed container and shake well and it explodes, a bit like mentos and coke.
Therefore, I'd be a bit dubious about putting it in my mouth. May have this wrong though

Your mouth is not a sealed cavity though, so I wouldn't worry about your head exploding. Therefore, I'd be a bit dubious about putting it in my mouth. May have this wrong though

Yep I've got one of those, an HX6950, an excellent bit of kit although mine is showing signs of dying. I think the HX6972 is the current version.
The main problem is I don't regularly keep on top of my cleaning regime, I go through periods of twice a day cleaning and mouthwash rinsing, then lazy periods of just using mouthwash with the Sonicare (no toothpaste!)
Yep, could do better.

Argh! Absolutely the worst thing you could do! You'll end up with no enamel left and then they'll look yellow!
Another vote for Sonicare and used with Colgate max white toothpaste, I very rarely recommend whitening toothpaste, but I've been using this myself and they definitely look whiter.
See your friendly hygienist and have a scale and a chat about whitening too

Don't use citrus juice, I've seen patients, usually middle aged ladies who take a lot of lemon and hot water, then brush their teeth. They end up with very worn teeth, especially if you have a fair bit or root showing in your mouth.
Please don't do it, take the good advice above
