Anyone got any experiance with nail fungus?

The doctor can prescribe lamisil tablets which will completely eradicate it.
I lost all of my toenails to fungus mainly because I was lazy and couldn't be bothered to go to the doctor to get it treated.
I tried all the over the counter paint on treatments to no avail.
Finally I visited the Doctor who prescribed a 6 month course of lamisil tablets and I now have 10 perfect toenails.

Serious fungal infections of the nail can be a sign of underlying health problems. The underlying high sugar concentrations caused by Diabetes can lead to serious fungal infections. Lamisil is an effective fungicide but you may find your doctor is unconvinced about long term prescriptions. I would ask the question and see what they suggest. The creams and sprays (Daktacourt, Lamisil, Canestan, Grisol, Mycil etc) are less effective but also less liable to cause liver problems, which can be a problem with ingested Lamisil tablet use. They will work with prolonged application. Good luck with the treatment.

On this, who much was the medication, and how often did you have to take it? Daily?

Tea tree oil. Wipe it on the nail and let it go under the nail. Takes time but it does work.

The doctor sent some nail clipping to be tested then prescribed the Lamisil "terbinafine" tablets.
It was free as I live in Wales, I had to take one tablet daily for 6 months.
I have suffered no side effects whatsoever and now you would never know that I had a toenail problem to begin with.
I am pretty fit and have no health problems.
I think I got it when I borrowed a friends ice hockey skates when I played hockey, and then I was just was too lazy to got to the doctors. It took me 10 years to get them seen to so they gradually became worse to the point where they were all severely affected.

I'd ask your doctor what he thinks.

Both these treatments are recommended on various web sites. They certainly do work in some cases. I have had Diabetes for 25 years and fungal conditions can be real problem in Diabetes. AF has been a constant problem for me in every form. I have reduced my AF to a minimal level with 15 years continuous daily treatment using every available treatment in rotation (excluding the lamisil tablets). It will never be cured because of the Diabetic consequences. But it is now at the point where there are no visible traces. There would be if I stopped the regime even for a few days. But I am pleased to have got this far.
