Private Doctors
Discussion
Hi all, I'm currently sitting in my local NHS practice. It's taken a 3 week wait just to see a doctor. Having just returned from living abroad for the last 20 years I'm really shocked at how bad the NHS in general, and the ethos of just treat the symptoms and not the cause.
Is there such a thing as private Doctor s in the UK?. I'd be happy to pay 100 to see a qualified doctor who would take the time over 30 mins to actually understand what the issue is, rather than concentrating on how quickly he can get me out of the door as he has another 100 patients to see that day.

NHS in general is fantastic, some bits are not perfect though.

So you haven't paid into British NHS for 20 years cos you've lived abroad and you've got tge cheek to complain about it!
Yes. I paid plenty in the past and am doing so now (both personally and as an employer) . If I could swap my NI payments for private i would without hesitation. My problem is that you are force to use a sub standard service with no option to not pay it.bosshog said:

NI does not fund the NHS, that's a common misconception. Funding for the NHS is from general taxation. You can certainly see a private doctor if you like and are willing to pay and you can see them whenever you like. I do find it remarkable that all these people can;t get appointments with their GPs , the last 5 GP practices i've been registered with over the past 15 or so years have never had issues with appointments ...
I do wonder how much of it is people not asking for the correc t appointments when they make them?
