what do you believe happens after death?
Discussion
Hey all, I have seen a few fellow PHers post about death of a loved one and so thought I'd pop this up and see what everyone thought.
I'm a Muslim and so in my belief system it works something like this,
The angel of death comes to take the soul of a person, if they were good then the soul leaves peacefully, if they were bad person then.. well it doesn't leave peacefully. The soul is then raised through the heavens until it comes in the presence of God. It is asked questions about its religion and how it spent its life on earth.
It is then returned to the body as the body is being buried in the grave, where it stays until the day of judgement.
If you don't believe in life after death what do you believe happens?
peace out

While I appreciate your valour in posting this OP, I hope you're ok with the ridicule that may follow.
I believe you die, the end. You either rot in the ground or you get burnt to a cinder and your bones ground up in a giant mill.
lol I think I am ready for it, I am new to posting on the forum but not new to the forum. Bunch of pussy cats really I believe you die, the end. You either rot in the ground or you get burnt to a cinder and your bones ground up in a giant mill.

Close your eyes and think beck to what you remember before you were born, when you remember nothing at all then that is what goes on after death.
I have theory, its to do with the building blocks of everything, we all came from a big mix up of all matter and therefore like lego building block there are infinite way to join up and be part of a construction, you will never ever be the same mix of blocks again but some blocks in your construction might be used again alongside others from a previous construction.
We are all part of the same lego set man, when you die your taken apart and the blocks go back into the box, it s a big box.

That's pretty much it, it's just fortuitous chemistry that keeps the human body together, as soon as death occurs the bonds that hold the building blocks together break very quickly.I have theory, its to do with the building blocks of everything, we all came from a big mix up of all matter and therefore like lego building block there are infinite way to join up and be part of a construction, you will never ever be the same mix of blocks again but some blocks in your construction might be used again alongside others from a previous construction.

That's a good theory and I think it has basically been proven as much as it can.I have theory, its to do with the building blocks of everything, we all came from a big mix up of all matter and therefore like lego building block there are infinite way to join up and be part of a construction, you will never ever be the same mix of blocks again but some blocks in your construction might be used again alongside others from a previous construction.

Bill Bryson's "A short history of nearly everything" goes into this and it's very interesting.

Entirely up to each individual in what they believe. However being an Agnostic (as I am) it has a;ways seemed to me that believers in the afterlife stand an excellent chance of being disappointed when nothing happens after death. Agnostics on the other hand could be pleasantly surprised. IMO their is nothing after death. I could be wrong in which case I win. Believers on the other hand: see above. Each to their own.

This I agree with, I have no faith I am happy that. I do my best to enjoy myself each day.- Stephen Hawking
