Anybody else get them? For the last two nights I have awoken shouting "fk Off" at the top of my voice. It felt like my feet were being pushed into the bed. I could swear there was something there when I was rudely awoken.

Not keen on it, I can tell you. I get sleep paralysis, too. Just as bad.

I've had sleep paralysis. Only for a few seconds upon waking, but that is genuinely terrifying.

I get them quite often. Its always the same thing - I cannot move and am about to be trampled alive by a hippo. I then wake up and nudge the wife to stop her snoring.

On the few occasions in life I've had anything like that it's been down to something in my life that's scaring the st out of me.

I've had both. It is sometimes more like I am half scaring myself awake at alarm time; I sort of recognize my subconscious doing it. Sleep paralysis is genuinely scary; trying to scream and - nothing. Not nice.

More cheese, Gromit?

When camping once, a mate of mine suddenly sat up, looked straight at me and said "you fking what"? When I asked him what he was playing at and he ignored me, I realised he was fast asleep.

We had a joke about it the next and sometimes still do.

I occasionally used to get night terrors in my late teens. You just have to lay there being scared stless and not being able to do anything about it. The one I remember the most vivid was a black figure slowly rising up from the bottom of the bed. You try to scream but for me it felt like I was so scared that I couldn't take a deep enough breath. So I would frantically gulp for air and the most I could manage was a whisper for help.

GF gets them all the time, just stands bolt up right in the middle of the bed pointing and staring

or will get up and go to the corner of the room, other times will just wake up in panic

very weird

My 7 year old has started doing this. Comes downstairs for a cuddle at least once a night, up to three times some evenings. Never remembers it the next day.

I wouldn't mind but last Friday she brought down a toy guitar, a jumper, a book & mousetrap & left them by the stairs. it's like living in a sonambulistic version of the Generation game.
