Thought I would share my recent experience with dieting.

At the end of last summer my wife and I decided we needed to lose some weight. So we started cutting out some of the carbohydrates and various treats that we had got into the habit of giving ourselves and instead concentrated of eating just enough to get us through to the next meal without getting uncomfortably hungry.

The result has been, in my case, a drop from near enough 17 stone (though I am quite tall, so not that bad smile) down to 15, with, I reckon another stone to go. My wife's numbers are a lot smaller, but she's done well too.

What has amazed me is that I haven't really suffered in the process, previously I have found diets to be really hard work, but this time it's been ok.

I'm sure the key is to aim for just a small drop each week, that way I can eat enough so that it doesn't hurt and, more importantly, I'm not thinking about food all the time.

That's the thing with dieting. Different approaches work for different people. the biggest hurdle to overcome is the mental component. Well done so far, Keep up the good work. The key to keeping the weight off, is to make sure you get yourself into a healthy routine. When it becomes second nature to eat a stick of celery, if you feel peckish between meals, rather than a Mars bar, you've cracked it thumbup.

Crash/fad/fast weight loss diets result in most of the weight, if not more, coming back relatively quickly. Doing it as you have done should/will result in more positive long term lasting effects.

Good work!

That's not always the case. I went down the crash diet route a couple of years back, I lost about 8 stone in a few months. I haven't gained any of it back. In fact I've had to be careful not to lose any more.

I think you would probably be the exception to the rule, in that case. Well done, not only for getting it off, but for keeping it off.

You are right in that it isn't 100% of folk who have a weight rebound. I'd say it's closer to 95%+ though (not going to produce research results to back this up).

But also well done for keeping the weight off.
