No, Its not that kind of problem, I have not had a heart attack... yet.

but anyway, I have had this problem twice now, in a couple of days.

I have been lying in bed watching a film on my laptop, propped up on my left arm (left side) with my elbow and forearm level with the bed and my shoulder upwards.

i feel a strange sensation in the middle of my chest, either side of my solar plexus, so then with out moving my left shoulder or arm, pull my right elbow behind me to try and 'stretch it out'

only either side of my breast plate, goes POP,POP,POP,POP,POP downwards both sides. really quite hurts afterwards too.

i was bricking it at the time, as I thought I had snapped the tendons in my chest, but as it happened 2 times, i figured it cannot be, as it would only do it the once, and I would be able to feel where the tendons have snapped and muscle contracted back from where the tendons were holding it to the middle of my chest.

can anybody shed some light on this? or had the same sort of thing? I will be going to the docs on monday btw, just asking in the meantime.

Go to your docs monday as planned smile

My brother had a similar sort of thing when he was around 14. Turned out to be some strained tendons in the chest area (apparently its rather complex around there) and nothing much to worry about. ALot of the muscles and tendons connect in some quite unique ways in the chest. The temp doctor we had was ex Indian army; after checking my brothers heart rhythm when my bro came out with "it hurts more when I run and I seem to get out of breath more.", in a strong Indian accent "Well young man, I suggest you get out and run some more then! That will cure it!". Same docs answer to my severly swollen knee after jumping a fence was "To avoid verticle objects bigger than 2 foot". Best doctor ever...

Lol, I have had a doctor like that.

Had what I thought was a polinidol cyst, and it was quite big.

he pushed on it quite hard with his thumbs, my foot shot out and kicked his wall where i was on his bed thingy and left a dent.

said something along the lines of, its ok, nothing to worry about.
went to a different doctor a couple of days later and she sent me for surgery straight away even phoned through to let them know I was coming so to leave a theatre open for me.

fking love GP's me.....

thats why I am going to start uni to become a doctor as soon as the new uni year starts.... (perhaps not a GP but someone who knows what they are taking about)

When joints crack, they don't crack. They have in them a cushioning lubricant, synovial fluid. You can get bubbles in this fluid.

Crepitus is the medical term used for the crackling sound that can be heard when these bubbles burst. It is believed that such sounds might also be heard when a tendon snaps over a joint or the ligaments are stretched rapidly.

Though cracking noises are often heard from the knuckles, knees, neck, or back, some people experience popping in their sternum while stretching. If the noise is not accompanied by pain or other symptoms, it's not really a cause for serious concern.
