Ankle ligament reconstruction?
Discussion
Has anyone had the above? Badly sprained my ankle in 2011, had arthroscopy and microfracture operation in 2012, not much difference now than before - daily slight pain, serious instability and major pain after exercise.
Surgeon is now recommending a second arthoscopy and microfracture (shaving?) and simultaneously, if possible, synthetic ligament reconstruction (I think its the Calcaneo fibular ligament but not totally sure). He seems to think it will be 2 operations 4 weeks apart with 8 week recuperation /intensive physio after
Don't really think I have much choice apart from living with the pain long-term, but interested in anyones experience of the process.
