Inguinal Hernia Repair

Had the above done 2 weeks ago today - open surgery. Doctors and nurse said that by 2 weeks I'd be well on the road to recovery, and fit enough to return to normal activities, including driving. I'm sitting here, still in considerable discomfort, and thinking about trying driving tomorrow (missus has been doing everything for past 2 weeks). Not only is the wound very sensitive (I can hardly put clothes near it), but my groin on the same side is still sore. Am I worrying unduly that it's taking longer than the med experts said to get right?

I had problems fastening suit trousers after 2 weeks but went back to work. Had some groin pain and a few problems with the wound healing that lasted months. I have another one now after 3 years on the other side and am going to go for keyhole surgery this time.

Suggest you call your doc to give you the reassurance you need at the moment.

When I had mine done there was some discomfort the first day, I stopped taking the painkillers the second day
I was fine well before the two weeks sickie cert was up
(Mine was done the old fashioned way, not keyhole, if it makes a difference)

I was advised not to drive for 6 weeks. Was painful for some time iirc, certainly more than 2 weeks.
