I'm not one to run to the Doctor for every little niggle ,I just grin a bare it until it goes away, but this hasn't.
I can only raise my right arm eye height after that I get a severe pain along my arm, this is annoying when sleeping I'm now waking up in pain a therefore having disruptive sleep patterns.
Any ideas before I go to the Doctors next week?

Possible disc bulge in your neck? I have had this and had many different types of pains in my left arm. I'd guess possible nerve irritation.
Try an anti inflammatory. You may get Diclophenic (excuse possible spelling error there) this works well but can cause stomach issues.
Might not be that of course.

Strangely I've been having the same thing for a few months now! Be a sport and let me know the outcome of your visit to the GP .. Save the NHS a few quid at the same time I can only raise my right arm eye height after that I get a severe pain along my arm, this is annoying when sleeping I'm now waking up in pain a therefore having disruptive sleep patterns.

You sound like me.I stumbled slightly with my grand daughter in my arms and reached for something
to steady me. My extended left arm was used against a kitchen unit whereupon I noticed a twinge in my
upper arm. Gave it a rub and carried on only to experience pain when taking a jumper and shirt off.
Thinking it will go away as numerous other aches and pains have over the years I carried on as normal.
But things were not normal. The pain continued to interfere with my life such as no golf,no snooker,
couldn't hold a wine bottle and pour a glass, driving was awkward as it was painful to hold the steering wheel
with my left hand,in fact any outstretched movement with my left arm was compromised.
It will get better by itself.
SIX MONTHS ON. It is only now showing signs of recovery. I've diagnosed it myself as bicep tendonitis.
Next time I will go to the doctors.
Honestly.
