Hay fever (Tree pollen)
Discussion
I did get hay fever really bad every year without fail until I bought a convertible, started driving with the hood down from early spring, it's been 3 years and I haven't had a sniffle or itchy eyes.
Could it be that I isolated my self in air conditioned rooms and cars and never exposed my self to pollen causing my immune system to not react, then massive amounts of pollen and my immune system had to fight it?

I started suffering from hayfever/ allergy symptoms last July, put it off for months and months until it was so bad I could barely open my eyes sometimes, I couldn't sleep, couldn't breathe and as a result kept getting headaches. It lasted all through autumn and winter, every single day. I'd been taking cetirizine from around Christmas and it seemed to work in the beginning but wasn't doing anything for me after a while.
I went to the docs a couple of weeks back and got sodium cromoglicate eye drops and beconase nasal spray and it's sorted me right out. They said it would take a month for one of them to work, but it was pretty much the next day I was feeling a lot better.

I'm taking antihistamine for the sneezing, which I must admit hasn't been too bad, but it's the cough I can't get rid of, trying to clear a polen induced furry chest. The minute I step outside near llaylandi trees, I start to choke. If you knock them the clouds of yellow fog is unbelievable.
Always suffered from allergies, usually just MTFU'd, but I moved back to the sticks last year and I had hayfever for months on end, after a while it was really getting me down, Dr prescribed Avamsys spray and it works an abosulte treat:

I dont seem to get side effects, it also has stopped mysterious rashes I used to get on the back of my legs this time of year, I really recommend it. I also believe it helps my body naturally stop over reacting to allergens as I can lower the dose over time and not get allergy effects.
Non prescription sprays had 0 effect on me, some even made it worse, tablets made me drowsy, I'd love to believe it was a placebo effect , but I felt like s
t on them, I even fell asleep on a date after taking one!!
My Dr was really helpful and prescribed me about 5 options and told me to try them all, thankfully the first worked best.

I’d try every type of anti-histamine as the chances are your body will only react favourably to one or two of the active ingredients available. The only thing that works for me are the 3 a day Benadryls.
For the last few years I’ve also had steroid injections which have made a huge difference. Some GPs are funny about prescribing this but the partners at my local practice let me have them. They’re literally the only thing which helps me significantly. I’m bad in June which is a real PITA as I love cycling which is about the worst thing you can do for your eyes and throat!

yep - had it worst when I was in Ukraine, effectively living at the centre of a forest
when it rained the puddles were yellow with the pollen!
I lived in Asia for a year with not a sniffle until I took the trans Siberian back and got to Ukraine. I think it is the grass or wheat that effects me though as I get it after everyone else.

That might work for you, but I have rode a bike every day and it has made no difference. Sitting in an air conditioned office all day might not be helping, but is a good respite when it is bad.Could it be that I isolated my self in air conditioned rooms and cars and never exposed my self to pollen causing my immune system to not react, then massive amounts of pollen and my immune system had to fight it?
