Poorly Shoulder
Discussion
So, no giggling please!
I do gymnastics. Clearly very badly as I managed to really hurt myself doing a front spring onto a vault. (like a handstand but fast and flying over)
Anyhoo, did it thursday night and it felt at the time like my shoulder popped out and as i collapsed in a heap I instinctivly grabbed my shoulder and pulled it towards my body and screamed alot. My shoulder was then "back in" if it ever came out on the first place. Lots of ice and i could move it so no obvious injury.
I expected to be bruised etc but i still cant really take any tops off without help, can only just do my bra up and cant really left anything without it hurting.
Do i leave it and let it heal? See a back person (chiro or other one) or see a doc?

I'm no expert but I've popped my shoulder doing stupid leaps when climbing. It's possible it will fully heal in time (18 months?). When I did my shoulder, I couldn't use that arm for 3 months - lifting my hand to shoulder height was a real struggle. Perfectly fine now, though - just did gentle rehab exercises (google them). Of course, as I say, I'm no expert. Doing internet exercises might make things worse...
You'll need to do proper rehab..I only sublux'ed my shoulder a few years ago (heavy fall skiing not as bad as yours by the sound of it). You need to get it looked at by a physio at an absolute minimum and do a proper exercise course to get full mobility and strength back. You'll need to do a lot of rotator cuff exercises to strengthen the joint etc. Don't cut corners with the rehab! You will regret it if you have issues.
The same thing happened to me when I fell over whilst walking the dog.
I felt it pop out, then back in and I though to myself "it'll be fine" - a few weeks later it was clear that it wasn't going to be fine; a steroid injection and a few physio visits started me off on the path to recovery which took many months.
So, my suggestion would be to go to the doctor with a view to getting a referral to a physiotherapist.

Go & get it looked at by someone qualified to know their stuff.
At 15 I was a champion javelin thrower for my county, never really had an injury bad enough to stop me throwing, but I have had to throw underhanded ever since & cannot lift my left arm above shoulder height without great pain, so as I am 57 years old tomorrow that is a lifetime of pain.
Don't do what I did & leave it.

Well I swa my GP. She wasnt most helpful. Said continue with ibuprofen and rest. Maybe see a sports physio.
I have an appointment booked with this bloke who my husband saw recently and he was very thorough....I figuured he knew his stuff
"Martyn graduated from the ESO in Maidstone in 2007, which is when he joined the Centre. For 7 years prior to beginning his training to become an osteopath, he was a personal/fitness trainer, and was involved with the winter training of the Maidstone 1st Rugby XV. He is still an active sportsman and enjoys squash, running and mountain biking. With his background, Martyn is able to offer advice, help and support for people keen on sports, suffering or recovering from injuries, and his additional Dry Needling skills offer effective pain relief in a wide range of conditions. Martyn is a popular member of the team, well-liked by patients of all ages"

This is sound advice. I popped my shoulder out (it popped back in about 30 secs later) playing football in 98 and mobility was about 5% the next morning. I didn't go to any physio because I knew better and didn't want it to affect my application for the RAF.It took a while to get full strength and movement back in the shoulder. Bizarrely, the doctor who did my pre-RAF medical was more concerned about the scuffs on my knees from astroturf tackles, and asked in a roundabout way if I was perhaps homosexual!!!!
No, I wasn't!!

This x 100.I've had 30+ dislocations since my teens & 2 operations, the last of which has left my shoulder wrecked. I now have more or less constant pain & I can never now return to sports that I did before or even sleep as I would wish at night.
How I wish I'd taken the physio seriously in my teens.

Is that contact sport related or a hypermobility issue? That's a lot of dislocations, one was enough for me!I've had 30+ dislocations since my teens & 2 operations, the last of which has left my shoulder wrecked. Sport to kick off & then so much damage to the joint that subsequent dislocations came from anywhere. I have dislocated it reaching to pick up a remote control, jumping when someone tapped me on the shoulder & even bending down to release the bindings on my snowboard. It is in short, knackered.
