I was just wondering what your experiences of dental surgery are? Prices? Recommendations?

I've had 3 attempted implants within the last year. One was a success, but on 2 occasions the dental surgeon encountered problems and aborted the procedure.

I've just had one of my front two done following an old failed cap and dead tooth underneath, it was £2200 but it was very professionally done, very happy so far.

Why did they fail?

August - First attempt was a mistake by the surgeon (dentist). The hole was drilled too wide and the implant would not screw in properly. Hole was filled with bone graft left for 3 months to harden.

December - Second attempt was at the same site. The bone graft failed to harden as predicted (turned into granules apparently). Bone graft again, wait for 6 months this time.

I'm tempted to give up on the idea of having an implant at that site and having a large molar done on the other side of the mouth. It's only a lower canine tooth anyway. Not really essential for smiling or chewing food.
