Following this thread:

I took Terminator X's suggestion and dropped carbs. Whilst it worked well for dropping weight (1st week lost 4.5 lbs) it was affecting my training. I nearly dropped the bar-bell on my chest one day and my swimming pace was 5 sec/100m off by the end of the week.

I have started trying to cycle the carbs but I am confused about the best way to do it. Some website/mags say low carb all week, then go mad on rest days. Other say have low, medium, high carb days.

I am doing 3 x weight sessions, 3 swims (fast pace), and a run and bike ride thrown in (these are quite light just to keep some mileage in my legs).

Should I go zero/v. low on rest days, low/med swim days, and high on lift days?

What % of carbs/protein/fat should I be aiming for on each day?

It seems on MFP you can only configure these percentages globally. Anyone know of an app when I can set this on a daily basis to have different splits?

ETA - also meant to ask. How many days prior to a race should I load up on for? 2-3 days? Or a week? Only a sprint tri at this stage

It took me AGES to get the balance right but I now low-carb for the majority of the day and up the amount a few hours before training/footy etc. in the evening. Also hammer the water/sugar free liquid too.

Previously I'd stood on the pitch one day after doing a complete carb free week and could barely kick the ball. Really woke me up a bit that yikes

Better advice from more experienced and sensible people ought to follow though biggrin
