X ray, 7-10 days for results. Eh? (nothing major)

I am missing something here, X ray on foot for suspected fracture, 7-10 days to get the polaroid. Would I be guessing they just beam the JPG to the Doc?

Walking wounded, hop along when I have to and foot up at the moment so nothing vital. Is it normally this long?

Would have been quicker to go to A+E.

I had a chest xray earlier this year. Waited 5 mins & they gave me a cd to take with the image on! Just like those passport photo booths!

Radiographer here. If we don't see a fracture there's no reason to clog up the fast track report service, so give the normal 7-10 days waiting period.

GP never sees the x-ray, he gets a report, which takes time to get to get there as they are sent by second class post (!)

If the hospital you had your x-ray taken has an A&E department, they will be able to access the x-ray, although unless it's something that has happened in the last couple of days, you could (unlikely) be turned away.

Many foot fractures are treated conservatively, so you may well just be told to rest it as you are anyway.

Cheers. Found out more here than face to face. I assumed it was a snap shot then sent to the doc, did not realise someone has to write it up then send it. Resting already I understand it may go no further than resting it anyway. Just the time taken for confirmation of fracture or not seemed a bit long.

OK, if that is the way it, that is the way it is. I did not expect to be top of the queue with this but a bit quicker in this day and age. Oh well.

I did avoid A+E in the first place when it happened.
