Went to a job last week to pick up a load of builders waste, amongst it was a cast iron bath that someone had poured concrete into, I'm used to lugging stuff about but this thing was seriously heavy. It had to come out through a narrow alley way so nothing else for it but lift it through.
Just as I hefted it onto the back of the van I felt a pretty uncomfortable pain in the crease of my groin, dropped the bath and thought I'd got away with it but over the last few days it has become increasingly painful.

Every time I lift something now I feel a jabbing pain there and a small lump has come up. I've been doing physical work for years and have had every kind of injury but this is a new one on me, does it sound like hernia symptoms? Anyone had one?

Sounds like it, now ask a doctor who can give you a proper answer.

I'm doing 15 hour days at the moment which makes getting to the Doctors a little awkward, that is why I thought I'd ask our friendly community but thanks anyway for your snotty reply.

Quoting myself, bad form.

Hmmm, just re-read that, I'm a bit knackered at the moment so I'm not firing on all cylinders, my apologies ST if I interpreted your post wrongly.

Sounds similar to what I had. I did the stupid thing and kept putting it off so it got worse over time, ended up having to have proper surgery not just keyhole meaning I ended up having to take 2 months off work normally it's just a week or two.

No problem,.
Personal experience says it sounds like a hernia, (but until you drop your trews for a doc, you won't know)

I thought I had a hernia a few months ago in my lower stomach area. It was only a scan that confirmed it was not and more likely a muscle strain.

They are not always what they seem so only a Dr will really be able to tell.

Can you push this small lump back in. If so it could be some of your gut poking through a tear. As said before it would need to be checked out. Had one many years ago ( before keyhole surgery). Three days in hospital and 6 weeks taking it easy.
