Why has the press always had it in for creatine, its found naturally in meat isn't it?

People won't like me for saying this but I think this kid could've had great success with MDMA therapy.

The article has been edited and isn't as terrible as it was, but it's still bad.
At least Creatine is no longer (repeatedly) called a drug although the rest of the article is still written as if it is.
The opening line now states he was 'addicted to a mood altering chemical'. No direct claim it was creatine but as it's the only substance mentioned in the article there is a strong implication.
His friend claims bereavement, drug use and bullying were to blame for his breakdown, factors which carry far more weight than a highly tested supplement.
Daily Mail said:

'While not illegal, some users of creatine have experienced side effects such as violent mood swings and depression.'
None I've heard of, the worst side effects I managed to find have been limited to digestive discomfort and mild cramping.

Some of the comments are worth reading though smile

ETA: Article has been taken down.

Did I get this right:
After a tragic shooting, a reporter gets misled by a fake Facebook profile, contacts this fakes 'friends', gets fed a fictional tale of creatine abuse and other junk then prints it without checking the facts? It then gets published around the world?
Victory for Major Troll.

Seems even the death of his 'friend', Hugh Woatmeigh (aka. U What M8?) was a fake, with his own Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/RIPHughWoatmeigh?ref=br_t...
I found this article linked, sets it out more clearly. http://www.americanluxurymag.com/2014/05/28/major-...

Not sure why MDMA gets such a bad press, I can only assume it's people not really knowing how these things work.
