Without knowing your full medical history it's hard to say.

Have you tried magnesium supplement? 600mg per day for a week then 400mg for a week then maintain at 200mg. It's not an evidence based treatment but works for some people.

I get it if my legs get too warm. Try sleeping with them outside the duvet or removing the duvet altogether and putting blanket over your torso to keep warm. That works for me every time, even if it's a bit of a faff.

I think I get this sometimes over the years but currently if I get it, it only applies to the bottom half of my right leg!

I've always thought that chances of it increase if I eat too much and/or it is too warm and I'm sat down for too long. It tends to happen later on in an evening too.

Am on bike today, will be 20 miles in total by the time I get back in tonight and I won't be having a big tea, so will see if anything happens tonight.

Are you talking about Saint Vitus' dance or a sort of twitching?

I get both and the twitches can get quite violent. It's quite strange as I can feel them coming on but can't do anything about it.
I'd love to know of a cure but I've always put the down to anxiety.

tried magnesium no joy. havent tried potassium supplement as such but have tried bananas which are supposed to be a good source and good for it.

am limited in exercise due to bad back but have just started jogging.

am on ropinerole for it which does help but ran out last night and was literally up all night they seem to make it even worse when i dont take them.

I've got it right now! No idea why, had a good nights sleep, it usually only comes on late at night but I'm sat here now with my legs spasming. My GP once told me to try drinking tonic water but then that would involve having to drink fking tonic water!

Have you tried Deep Heat or the one that cools your legs? Usually works for me but can get sort of expensive and it does nothing to prevent it happening again. I get two distinct types of restless legs; the kind where it feels like there's a low voltage running through my legs and I feel the urge to move them or they start to do small spasms, or the other kind, usually when I'm asleep, where they get rather violent and kick out a lot. The latter of which pisses my girlfriend off no end.

Hi,

I used to have the same, for a while and I was very worried about it!

I used to read in bed, but I had the habit of lying on my belly, with the book on the pillow.
Once I stopped this, and read while lying on my side, the restlessness went away and I haven't had it again.

When you mentioned you had back problems this jogged my memory. Perhaps it is related and there is a nerve issue or something?

Pete, I was on ropinerole but read about taking Vit B3 Niacin. I take 500mg twice a day and have stopped the ropinerole.

Seems to be working.
