Keeping Insulin cool in hot climates

Quick question please.

Planning to ride Route 66 next year so for just over two weeks will need to carry sufficient insulin with me, which should be kept below 30 degrees C.

I'm told that temperatures average between 30 - 40 at any time.

So, will be on a motorcycle with luggage so how do I warp the pens in something that will keep most of the heat off them?

I know that you can get Frio chill/cold packs etc., but would these keep it too cold to later use each day?

But can you then let it warm up a bit, use it and then chill it again without any damage to the insulin?

I had a google for insulin temperature stability, and bascially, as long as you make sure you don't freeze it, you'll be fine. Lots of talk about refridgerating at 36f, so you can get pretty close to feezing, too.

contact your insulin manufacturer directly and ask them. At room temperature (20C) most insulins are stable for 4-6weeks out the fridge. They will have some data for other markets with higher ambient temperatures. Ask for customers services or medicines information.

Sorry - missed this earlier. My OH is Type 1 diabetic and has a good half-dozen frio pouches dotted about the place - car, house, office, workshop, etc so if need be he doesn't have to go far to find one and rehydrate it. We were 5 months round Europe last summer and although we have a fridge in the Landy, the Frio pouches were invaluable on day trips etc. Can't rate them highly enough.
