Sportsmen/womes Diets and Fat People
Discussion
We have problems with fat people here. Loads of processed nonsense get cleverly advertised and people trip over themselves to buy it then get fat eating it.
Then you get some "celebrity" endorsing the latest fad diet and other people trip over themselves to do it and normally end up putting more weight on.
So...
As well as advertising trainers, grotesque watches and perfume, why not get current and retired sports people to tell us what they eat? These people absolutely have to eat properly to be at the top of their game so their diets will probably be as good as it gets, so why do we never hear about what they eat?

Aye. I tend to eat to fuel my activities these days rather than just enjoying food when there's more to enjoy in life than food! You're right, athletes tend to eat to fuel their sport which the average gym goer would be destroyed by let alone a sit around fatty
GWS!
Diet is very simple. Its just Energy IN vs Energy OUT any energy that isn't expended is stored as fat.
I explain it to the simple minded like this, "would you leave all the lights on in your house?" the usual answer is "No", "then why do you waste money buying food that you don't need too?"
This is usually followed by a look of bewilderment then realisation at what I'm saying.
The other excuses I hear regularly are -
Eating health is more expensive.
BMI is wrong and doesn't allow for my body type.
Muscle weighs more than fat.
I like my food.
I work with fat people...

Eating food is not simple, advertisers spend millions to entice you to eat their food .Like tobacco smoking and alcoholic drinks it is all big business.
Then there is comfort eating you are not hungry and you eat only to pile the fat on.Sensible eating is a way of live little and often. If it makes you happy eating plenty of junk food carry on.Maybe it is better to be fat than thin and miserable.Or excersise till you drop and run marathons you could always die of a hart attack.>

look what michael phelps used to eat. Normal people would be obese in a week just from all the pasta. Then you get some "celebrity" endorsing the latest fad diet and other people trip over themselves to do it and normally end up putting more weight on.

For example:
Breakfast, 3 fried egg sarnies, with cheese, tomato, fried onions and mayo. Followed up with pancakes, five egg omelette, french toast and grits (nasty american stuff).
Lunch, half a kilo of pasta. two ham n cheese sarnies
Dinner, another half kilo of pasta, some pizza and energy drinks.
10-12000 cals a day!
granted, this was in the run up to 2008 olympics where he won 8 golds. Its not a diet he was advised to keep doing. It was simply a case of having to eat anything and everything to get the calories in to make it through 5 hours of training every day.

There was a documentary series called "the making of me". One episode focused on Colin Jackson. His diet back when he was competing was terrible, absolutely terrible. Elite athletes don't give a s

The way I see it is that our population is getting older. People are living longer and it's creating an unaffordable society. The cost of treating obesity is dwarfed by the cost of supporting old people.
We need to encourage more people to have reckless lives where they die in thier 60s. Every iced bun, cigarette or beer you have is helping the future of our nation.
