Sonic Toothbrushes, good or just a gimmick?
Discussion
I need to replace mine and my mrs electric toothbrushes and spotted a Colgate branded sonic one for roughly the same price as a regular oral b electric brush.
tbh I'm clueless on which, if either, is the better one to choose.
So any dentists/toothbrush salesmen here able to offer advice?
Is a sonic toothbrush going to offer a better clean than just a normal electric toothbrush?

Philips Sonicare far superior IMO and I've used all mentioned. Well worth the investment
Is there a particular model that you would recommend Rachie?Looking on Amazon there are about a dozen different models at a wide range of prices.
Thanks for any advice you can give

Far superior in what way?Oral - B - sonic - different patent technology, bigger head and not so easy to clean hard to reach corners.
Sonicare - standard and extra small heads available, feels weird to start with and tickly, but once you're used to it your teeth feel much cleaner.
It's still personal preference, I've had units of all 3 to try over the years and always stay with sonicare.
You still need to floss or use interdental brushes too.

Sonicare all the way - used to suffer from sensitive teeth, not only did my teeth feel cleaner, my sensitivity disappeared. The sensitivity was probably caused by my manual brushing. I will never go back to manual.
You should get a job in their marketing team
Recommend Phillips soniccare too. Have had 4 I think in 10 years. Word of warning. I did buy a base model from amazon and it didn't clean my teeth as well as my old one. So I had to buy expensive one. I find they last about 3 years before they start to lose charge though. Just after the warranty runs out;-) maybe they are getting more reliable now as I must be near my 3rd year with this one. No fillings since using them too..
