Wheat free diet, have you tried it?
Discussion
How did you get on, are you still on it?
I started wheat free last week, it apparently takes 4 weeks too notice any difference.
I got headaches for the first week but they have subsided.
I've been a veggie for 20 years now and I'm 48, I was getting stomach cramps, fatigue and the odd bloating, so thought I'd try the Wheat free.

I went wheat-free at the start of the year (7+ months in) and it has been incredible. It wasn't just about dropping the carbs, I read this book last Christmas and it motivated me to move off wheat quickly:

Modern wheat is scary stuff.
I wasn't overweight in the first place (just slightly padded around the middle) but so far I am 30lbs down. Biggest difference as a result of stopping wheat is that my appetite has disappeared, those (blood sugar-related) cravings for food that hit me during the day have gone completely - I can easily fast when needed as the desire is just not at the same level.
I feel fantastic (and I'm 51)

That is inspirational, cheers for that.
I read about wheat in the Sun a couple of weeks ago, so I thought I'd give it a go. I'm starting to feel good, and bowel movement is the best Ive known since my 20's. I've started running too but that still takes it out of me, I'm totally exhausted, hope that improves stamina wise.
I'll report back over the coming months.

Made no difference!
I did the WFD for about 4 months as I remember, geez 4 years ago wheres it gone?
Instead I tried omeprazol for anti acid, I came off those about 4 months ago having tried them for 6 months and I've never felt better.
I don't take anything now, I cut down on sugary drinks and chocolate as the doc said I had a fatty liver, I've been alright since!
How you doing?

This is just another bit of pseudoscience spread by "nutritionists" with absolutely no scientific evidence to back up their claims. Unless you have celiac disease, then avoiding wheat is not going to do anything.

"Wheat is a good source of fiber, vitamins and minerals," said Joanne Slavin, nutrition professor at the University of Minnesota. She added that the confusion about gluten, a protein, has caused some people to avoid eating wheat and other grains. Only about 1 percent of the population — those with celiac disease or a wheat allergy — cannot tolerate gluten and must eradicate it from their diet to ease abdominal pain and other symptoms, including the ability to fully absorb vitamins.
One reason wheat-free or gluten-free diets are popular is that people who don't eat wheat often end up bypassing excess calories in sweets and snack foods. Then, they start feeling better, lose weight and mistakenly attribute their success to gluten or wheat avoidance."

I started reading 'Wheat Belly' on holiday and this thread came up when searching for PH references. Interesting that it made no difference.
I read that too, quite a while ago, among others. So I tried keto and I prefer it. I have occasionally thought that I missed some old favourites like pasta carbonara or pizza, so I have tried them. I felt so ill afterwards I've not bothered since. I don't miss wheat at all.

True.I did lose weight but that was down to cutting back the chocs, biscuits and bread.
I was told by the doc that I had a fatty liver, when I stopped drinking a locally made juice drink, it went back to normal, the sugar in the drink was to blame, I was drinking around 10 litres a week of very nice raspberry juice supplied by a local farmer in 2 litres milk bottles.
Too much of anything................................
