Men. After a long layup due to health problems I've finally started training in anger again.

Lost 1st 8lbs so far with another 3 ish to go.
Now I've just started running again, not much, just 8-10k every other night on the treadmill.

I'm having a problem with bleeding nipples.
Until I've lost this excess terry, what can I use to stop it?

Losing weight probably won't help. I run 25-30 miles a week and in wet weather (or if it is really hot and I sweat a lot) always get bleeding nipples on long distance runs.

Best thing I've found is Micropore tape. Cheap, sticks better than plasters and comes away without hurting.

Tried plasters, micropore tape and that plaster wrap. All peel of after 15-20 mins.

Get a running t-shirt (one of the wicking base layer types) but so tight you have to squeeze into it, worked for me

  • obviously wear something over it if you're running outside, you will look awful in it!

Try 'Compeed' blister plasters. If these can stay on sweaty feet for marathons, they ought to stick to your nips. redface

You wearing a decent sports t-shirt made from a soft material eg something from Nike, rather than say a polo top with an embroider logo on the nipple which will rub?

Or failing that search tit tape

The only tshirt type that will help is a TIGHT compression top - Nike Pro Combat is what I run in. But even with that, sports lube if going for a long/wet run.

And as has been mentioned....A compression top will have women stopping and staring - so something over the top until that's a good thing.

+1 for the Compeed patches - watch out if you're hairy though and need to peel them off...

Vaseline and plasters work well for shorter distances. Heard good things about a product called Bodyglide that supposedly doesn't come off easily.

Cracked it! Using a much smaller square of micropore tape has cured it.

I used to suffer quite badly with nip rubbing in the old style rugby shirts, the club logo and shirt maker logos were directly over each nipple and I used to be in agony rofl I was very happy when the skin tight jerseys became popular!
