As posted elsewhere, some while back I was diagnosed with advanced Prostate Cancer - which was then discovered to have performed it's favourite trick and spread to my bones (spine). This type of cancer is not curable and can only be managed/slowed. After near on a year's such treatment an up to date scan has revealed that the bxggxrs in my spine have all but gone! Medics surprised/me delighted. However, this does now mean that whereas an attempt at curative treatment on the Prostate was pointless my consultant is now recommending Radical Radiotherapy to the Prostate - plus surrounding area as there is slight spread to surrounding tissue.

So, with apologies for long 'intro', my question is, has anyone gone through this - 7 weeks, 5 days a week! - and if so how did you get on. I'm aware, or have been told, what the side effects DURING the treatment might be and can live with those. Some of the longer term possibilities, however unlikely, I'm not so happy about. Any experiences?

I ask because I COULD just carry on as I am. The current treatment doesn't effect me very much at all. However, it IS only holding things a bay and, at some point, the day will come when it stops working, whereas the Radiotherapy is offering a chance (put a 50/50) of a cure.

Cheers all.
