My father (mid 60's) has been unable to move for a couple of months now, after a recent MRI scan they diagnosed Spinal Stenosis, Sciatica nerve issues and general wear and tear in his lower back causing him excruciating pain. He is a big chap and a grafter, so doing nothing is really driving him insane.

They have stated he could wait several months before even being considered for treatment of his pain, I find it upsetting in this day and age that apparently there is nothing that can be done. I do fear knowing him this could push him down a very bad path psychologically.

My question if there are any experts on here is what possible options might there be, I don't mind paying to have him fixed and would take him anywhere for treatment.

Any suggestions no matter how trivial are welcomed as we are getting know where with his GP. I could post the full diagnosis on here if it might help?

Thank you.

Ask for a referral to a Pain Clinic where the doctors specialise in pain management.

Sadly, there is no cure and it might be trial and error with medication - NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medication) may help.

The aim would probably be to manage his pain with a view to getting him mobile again - exercise/ keeping mobile will also help.
