Did a little search and saw the previous 'juicer' thread where people recommended various other blenders, but hey, I'm a sucker for marketing, and those instant soup things looked kinda cool.

Now I'm under no illusions that the high power blender will join my other expensive follies in the back of the cupboard (my cuisinart ice cream maker springs to mind) but I do vaguely plan on getting healthier (have just paid in advance for 20 pt sessions at the gym). -I did buy a juicer, but ended up giving it to my dad...

Now, I just had my first attempt at 'green juice' this morning, and threw in, kale, spinach, a little parsley, goji berries, a little apple and a little spring greens, with coconut water. The taste wasn't terrible I guess, but despite leaving it on blend for some time in my el cheapo blender it was still fairly bitty, hence the idea of splashing out a bit.

Any hands on reviews of the Vitamix out there? will it be less bitty then with a cheap crap blender, I'm assuming so!

Secondly, anyone drink green juice and have any recipes that don't taste like feet?

Cheers!

Instead of spending several hundreds of pounds one something might not end up not using, I'd recommend buying a 'nutribullet'. It does what the vitamix does, just not quite as well, but costs less than £100, and still works amazingly well.

It's what I've got sitting in my kitchen, it also comes with a book with literally hundreds of different recipes from smoothies to milkshakes etc..

My daily fix is a handful of spinach (or kale), a full apple, a plum, and some blueberries. Have all get their arse's blended with a certain amount of water that's maked on the cup, and I can happily knock it back.
I couldn't imagine being able to eat all that fruit/veg in the space of a day without it!.

I did hear that mentioned, how smooth does it make the green stuff? I felt like I had to chew my green smoothy a bit...!

I've got an Omniblend that I use pretty much daily.

My current morning smoothie is usually (for 2 of us): water, 2 whole apples, spinach/kale, pomegranate, frozen berry mix (raspberries, strawberries and blueberries I think), coconut oil and some honey. I blend it for about 45-60s. It tastes really good. The coconut oil is a great addition.

I have tried to make soup in it before (brocolli and something else) but it was REALLY bitter.

I really recommend the Omniblend... everything goes in whole and it appears just as good as a Vitamix so far. I got it for a steal on eBay. smile
