I managed to break my foot twice in the last 12 months, same foot and location at the base of the 5th metatarsal. It's been 6 months at the begining of December since my last break, I had x-ray 5-6 weeks ago and the fracture had healed but I'm still in a fair amount of pain. The pain comes and goes and it's giving me a limp, I've not be able to exercise for months now and I used to run around 80km a month. Last time I visited the doc he mentioned ligaments causing the pain but didnt suggest physio or anything, I'm fed up now with not being able to run and the limp. I've never had physio and would have to fund it myself, with no experience of physio I wondered if it would be worth it or do I just need to hold tight and wait for foot to 100% heal ?

I guess the first thing is to identify why you've broken your foot twice. Is there an underlying problem? If so, it obviously needs fixing, otherwise there are going to be further problems in the future. Fixing it could mean something as simple as orthotics or some sort of strengthening exercises. If your GP thinks you need physio then you should be able to access it via the NHS. The alternative is to go private and at least you then get to pick your physio and there will be more flexibility about when you go. If you've got a local running shop I'd suggest trying them for a suggestion as they should be able to recommend a good one.

As someone who has suffered with a knackered ankle for the last twelve years due to an original problem not being picked up I really would encourage you to try and get an answer as to what's causing the problem and a way of fixing it.

Good luck!
