I thought I'd post this more as a reassurance to others rather than anything else
I'd heard all sorts of horror stories in the media regarding the introduction of this combined benefit.
Things like huge time delays for assesment by non medical staff at locations totally unsuitable for disabled people and then levels of benefit being stripped away. Basically it was just an excuse to reduce benefits for the most vulnerabe in soceity.
My experience was, thankfully, somewhat different.
A change in my circumstances meant I had to apply for PIP for the first time, hopefully to get an increase. However I was very anxious about the stress involved because of the above rumours.
As it happened I made an initial claim by just phoning up. They sent me a quite long, but easy to complete, form
About 5 weeks later (with Christmas and New Year inbetween) a Nurse came to my home for a very informal chat about how my illness affects my life and 11 days later I've received a letter informing me they've awarded me a higher level
